AM 1510 VP of Sales and General Manager Mike Winn has left the Sporting News Radio station to join ESPN Radio AM 890 and AM 1400 in a management position. Winn was a sales rep at AM 1510 and one of the original “Diehards” hosts.
“I am excited to be part of the ESPN brand and the opportunities at the station are endless,” Winn told Media Blitz in an email today. The enthusiastic and affable Winn worked wonders on a shoestring budget and with little support from Sporting News Radio, AM 1510’s parent company. He was able to loosen AM 1510 from the financial albatross that was Celtics Basketball and attract hosts to buy time at the station. He deserves cdredit for keeping AM 1510 viable through troubled waters.
Says Winn, “The guys (at AM 1510) are talented and dedicated and will get through any changes. It has been a difficult last two years here and these guys have stayed focused throughout.” Winn officially resigned from AM 1510 yesterday and is expected to join ESPN Radio immediately.
