World Series Rematch Falls Short

The Red Sox visited St. Louis for the first time since October last night, the Patriots sign another defensive back, the Celtics might be interested in a Euro point guard, and Bill Griffith has a look at how the media…

New England Sports Tonight is almost unwatchable.

It’s television’s version of WEEI.(”Beat it to death radio”),(”Second guess radio”),etc.

Try tuning in to Neumy’s “SportsPlus” on NESN.

I hate to say it but the Globe(SP)show is much better then the Herald(NEST)show.

NESN should step up and make it a daily show.

How are Updike and Doris Kearns Goodwin any more qualified to talk about baseball than Stephen King? In what way are they more than fans? In fact, how is plagiarizer Doris Kearns Goodwin qualified to pontificate on any subject? Credible is not a word I would use for her. As a northern New Englander I would much rather listen to a guy from Maine talk baseball than prententious old farts like Updike or a nostalgia heavy Yankees fan like Angell.

I’m no King lover, but your comment seems way off base. You’re a literary critic now too? I guess nobody but the masses reads Stephen King so that makes him lower class. He’s a storyteller first and a stylist second. I’ll bet none of the fossils you mentioned minded being at the same function with him. That was a cheap shot.

I hate to let facts get in the way,but the 1988/89 A’s were very small ball oriented.McGwire and Canseco(40 steals-that’s small ball) were the power and Dave Parker-though in a diminished capacity, but guys like Lansford,Rickey Henderson(2nd half of ‘89),Weiss,Steinbach,Hassey,Blankenship,Polonia…those guys played key roles and not by hitting homers.

God, 6:20 am and Callahan is already at it again. It’s 2005 not 1955. The world is a different place, Gerry. I think he’s the only person in New England still railing about this. Who cares! The “Queer Eye” guys have no impact on my life. Why do they have such an impact on your’s? Just try ignoring them…

I hate Dennis and Callahan, but on this issue they are right. It’s the Red Sox who’ve dragged themselves into the mud. It’s tough to ignore to homosexuals when they are flitting around the field as guests of the Red Sox. Werner,Henry,Lucchino and Steinberg are well known Liberal activists and they are pushing their agenda down the fans’ throats.

Gee, I didn’t know the owners of the Red Sox had a homosexual agenda. I sure hope they don’t turn all of New England gay! Come on….

Rocky 06.09.05 at 3:55 pm

I didn’t say they had a Homosexual agenda, but a LIBERAL one(you’re right, that’s redundant) remember the Sox hierarchy standing by Kerry’s side in New Hampshire? Here’s an idea for the Sox..stay out of politics all together.

MikeyT's 06.09.05 at 8:53 pm

I do remember that. I also remember Curt Schilling telling everyone to vote for Bush on Good Morning America. I agree, sports is no place for politics, it’s a place to escape it. I guess that’s why Callahan gets under my skin because he uses a sports talk format to espouse his conservative views and then yells at others who have a differing opinion.

Rocky 06.10.05 at 6:36 am

Dennis and Callahan are a joke. I listen to 790-it’s not great, but it’s ACTUALLY sports talk!

Don’t mistake Callahan for a conservative. He’s not. He’s a Bushie Republican…true conservatives want small gov’t,oppose the war in Iraq(and oppose most foreign wars),try to stop profilgate spending and think the Patriot Act is invasive. Callahan is not a true conservative.
